Few groups have been following the current Omicron developments more closely than the New Zealand Nurses Organisation, whose members have already been grappling with the effects of widespread staff shortages.
They have also been trying to plan for situations in the coming weeks when staff off work sick or else being required to isolate puts potentially enormous pressure on those remaining on the medical frontline.
The organisation's industrial officer Glenda Alexander spoke to Corin Dann.
