There has been a gun salute at the Tower of London to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's 70 years on the throne and the first British monarch to reach a Platinum Jubilee.
Special services to mark the anniversary have been held across the country and the Commonwealth, including a 21 gun salute in Wellington on Monday.
The Queen has kept to tradition and spent her Accession Day privately at her countryside retreat of Sandringham in Norfolk, with bigger celebrations set for June.
