Māori education overhaul plans hit snag

Plans to overhaul Māori education have hit a significant hurdle, with full immersion schools refusing to take part. 

The government is taking another step towards a revamp, which it hopes will connect more tamariki with their language and culture. 

But it's turning into a spat with one senior Māori education leader calling it a 21st century version of assimilation.
