Covid-19: Seymour starts own negotiations with protesters

From Morning Report, 7:09 am on 17 February 2022

The police ultimatum to protesters blocking streets around Parliament appears to have evaporated with not a single illegally parked vehicle being towed away.

Yesterday the Commissioner told Morning Report they would start moving some of the hundreds of cars, trucks and campervans but that hasn't happened.

Instead police now say they are seeing positive signs with some demonstrators calling for the roads to be cleared.

In the meantime four Army vehicles are on standby in case they are needed, protesters have told RNZ they have no intention of moving and the Act leader David Seymour has started his own negotiations.

Political reporter Anneke Smith has more.
