With borders closed, more New Zealanders have been ticking the Chatham Islands off their bucket list than before the pandemic.
Air Chathams visitor arrivals were up 80-percent last year compared to pre-Covid-19 times with just under 2400 visitors recorded.
While businesses are pleased with the momentum tourism has gained, they say it's vital it doesn't cost their remote island lifestyle.
