The lump sum given to people newly released from prison to help them start a new life hasn't changed in 30 years and advocates say the rising cost of living is even more reason to bring it up to speed.
Released prisoners get up to $350 in the hand through the Steps to Freedom grant but in today's terms, keeping up with inflation, that should be $700.
