Auckland recorded more than a month's worth of rain in a little over an hour on Monday before the storm moved on to Waikato and Coromandel.
Numerous homes and businesses were flooded, with Fire and Emergency getting over 300 calls for help, while the downpour caused widespread road closures across the upper North Island.
