The Leader of the Opposition says cutting the isolation period from seven days to five would be in line with advice from America's Centres for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC.
One health expert says the isolation period should be lengthened to 10 days if rules regarding vaccine passes are eased today by the government.
National's Christopher Luxon told Morning Report that five days is in force in the US and should be in this country too.
"Around the world, there's a range of options between five, six and seven. The CDC in the US is saying five days is acceptable."
