The putrid stench emanating from the wastewater treatment plant in the Christchurch suburb of Bromley is keeping people awake at night and making them want to dry-retch.
The plant's trickling filters which treat the waste were destroyed by fire last November, leaving rotting biomass trapped inside.
Fed-up ratepayers will have their say at a meeting this morning, when councillors will be briefed on efforts to control the smell.
