An Auckland dairy owner wants teenagers who ram raid businesses to face tougher penalties.
It comes as the government signals support is on the way for shops that have been targeted. It's also investing more than $560 million over four years in the police.
Opposition parties are continuing to accuse the government of being soft on crime, saying the money won't mean tougher consequences for offenders.
