Many principals are hoping the government will use this month's Budget to scrap the decile system and introduce the equity index, which has been promised as a replacement for several years.
They believe their schools are being under funded because their decile ratings are hopelessly out of date.
Decile numbers are used to allocate more than $150million a year to schools and are based on 2013 census information.
