A North Island council has voted to reduce the fee it pays to Local Government New Zealand, in protest against the Three Waters reforms.
Manawatū District Council says LGNZ signed an agreement not to oppose the reforms, without letting its members know first.
It's reducing its annual fee by $15,000 because it says LGNZ isn't listening to them It follows a recent move by the Timaru District Council to withdraw from Local Government New Zealand all together.
