Police have yet to reveal whether a man they shot multiple times in a Wellington suburb yesterday afternoon had a weapon.
The house in Kingsbridge Place in Newlands remains under guard this morning.
Police say they were called to a family violence incident and the man did not respond to appeals to give himself up, instead threatening officers and trying to barricade himself inside the house with the victim.
Neighbours say they heard six shots being fired - RNZ reporter Hamish Cardwell was at the scene where an angry member of the King Cobras gang was yelling at police.
