Samoan Prime Minister arrives in New Zealand

From Morning Report, 8:25 am on 13 June 2022

Samoan Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata'afa has arrived in New Zealand on her first bilateral visit to any country since taking office nearly a year ago.

She will be welcomed to Parliament tomorrow and while the visit carries ceremonial importance - marking 60 years since the country gained independence from New Zealand - her talks with counterpart Jacinda Ardern are seen as important given the escalated Geo-political jostling in the Pacific.

Samoa Observer editor Alex Rheeney spoke to Corin Dann.
