Nearly 30 per cent of adults experienced crime once or more last year, according to the Ministry of Justice's annual New Zealand Crime and Victims Survey.

The survey of more than 6000 randomly selected people, done in 2021, reveals trends in crime - many of which go unreported.

The victimisation rate remained unchanged at 29 per cent and highlighted again that minority groups such as Maori, the LGBTQ community and adults with disabilities have a higher risk of experiencing crime.

The Government's chief victim advisor, Kim McGregor, spoke to Susie Ferguson.
