The selflessness and sacrifice of people who risked their lives to save others during the Christchurch terror attack have been honoured at a special awards ceremony in the city.
The Governor-General, Dame Cindy Kiro, presented nine people with awards for their bravery on that terrible day in 2019, saying they acted without hesitation in the face of great peril.
Reporter Jean Edwards was at the ceremony at the Christchurch Town Hall.
