The Muslim community is on edge after a spate of attacks just days before the festival of Eid.
On Monday night there was a burglary in a Tauranga mosque.
Then later that evening, a worshipper's car was set alight.
Earlier on Saturday outside a mosque in Upper Hutt a hearse or janaza van - had its windscreen smashed.
It remains unclear if the events are linked.
