Flooding and slip hazards still persist across Northland

From Morning Report, 8:14 am on 26 July 2022

In Northland, it has been a case of water water everywhere. While the heavy rain and strong wind warnings have been lifted, surface flooding and high tides are still severely affecting the roads.

The Waitangi River Bridge near State Highway 10 is under a 50km/h speed restriction and overweight vehicles must take another route.

Schools have been closed, power still out in places, with flooding and slips across the district.

Te Hiku Ward Councillor Dave Collard has been overseeing the local response.

He spoke to Susie Ferguson.
