No respite from heavy rain across the South Island

From Morning Report, 6:09 am on 27 July 2022

Mother Nature has offered no respite in the South Island as heavy rain again lashes the region.

North Otago bore the brunt of the rain overnight which was drenched with 90mm of rain - but no major flooding has been reported yet.

Schools and businesses across the motu were forced shut yesterday, and access to dozens of roads across Canterbury and Otago remain heavily restricted or closed.
