Intensive care pressure delaying operations

Heart, brain and cancer operations are being delayed as the pressure on hospitals extends to intensive care.

College of Intensive Care Medicine chair Andrew Stapleton says his colleagues around the country are facing staff shortages, but patients are also getting stuck in ICU, because there is no space in wards when they are ready to move.

He says that means intensive care beds are not free for new patients.

He spoke to Corin Dann.
