Leading health advocates are pleading for better action on monkeypox, saying New Zealand could see the same failures as other countries if the government doesn't act now.
The Burnett Foundation - formally the AIDS Foundation - and other experts have written a letter to the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, copying-in a range of government minister and health officials.
The virus is disproportionately affecting men who have sex with men, and the letter says more must be done immediately to prepare for and prevent the escalation of monkeypox in New Zealand.
