Firefighters are set to strike in two-weeks time, after the Union rejected the latest pay offer from Fire and Emergency.
The one-hour strike will take place between 11am and 12pm on 19 August, and again on the 26 August.
The Secretary of the Professional Firefighters Union Wattie Watson says it's an unprecedented step, but it reflects the gravity of the situation.
She says firefighters want safer systems of work, improving their safety, health and wellbeing.
Watson spoke to Corin Dann.
