Tensions are growing increasingly fraught between China and the rest of the region, with Japan reporting overnight that five Chinese missiles have landed in the waters of its exclusive economic zone.

Pelosi's trip to Taiwan was an unofficial stop on her tour of Asia, with the speaker currently stopping over in Japan.
Japan's Defence Minister announced a few hours ago that five missiles had landed in its zone - the first time Chinese ballistic weapons have done so.
