The death of Matamata based Japanese jockey Taiki Yanagida is being felt widely across the racing industry.
He died from injuries suffered in a fall during a race last Wednesday and had been on life support at Waikato Hospital since.
Te Akau Racing principal David Ellis says Yanagida was well regarded and highly thought of throughout the racing community.
He spoke to Morning Report.
