The Buller District was the subject of a Red Heavy Rain warning issued by the MetService yesterday, a forecast that was followed by a regional state of emergency for the West Coast.
Westport experienced significant rainfall overnight and residents are on alert for flooding, with locals hoping it doesn't have the same impact as a year ago, when hundreds were forced to evacuate their homes.
