National Party leader Christopher Luxon is standing by his party's opposition to the so-called "waka jumping" legislation, which allows the Speaker to remove MPs who have left their party.
Labour's Hamilton West MP Gaurav Sharma and National's Tauranga MP Sam Uffindell have both been suspended from their respective parties.
Under the law change the Speaker can be asked that MPs who leave their party be removed from Parliament.
Luxon told Morning Report National never supported that.
