New Zealand Food Safety is urging consumers not to eat Fijian mussels being sold here illegally.
Mussels imported from Fiji are not controlled to ensure they meet New Zealand's food safety requirements and could cause illness.
The organisation's deputy director-general Vince Arbuckle spoke to Corin Dann.
