A New Zealand registered nurse has left her job at Middlemore Hospital's emergency department to be a combat nurse in Ukraine.
Shannon Taylor is preparing to leave for the invaded country where she will join a small group of international volunteers who are putting their lives at risk to help civillians living near the front lines.
She spoke to journalist Sally Wenley.
