As National calls for tougher consequences on repeat youth offenders due to a spike in ram raids, its also acknowledging the need to invest in social groups supporting youth and in turn stopping the offending in the first place.
Yesterday on Morning Report National's police spokesperson Mark Mitchell talked about the work being done by the youth organisation Springboard in which provides intensive one-on-one support for young people aged between eight and 15 in the Whangaparoa area north of Auckland.
