Midday Report's Māni Dunlop has been at the blessing for the opening of the "Tōku reo, tōku ohooho" exhibition at the National Library - Te Puna Mātauranga.
It's part of te wiki o te reo Māori a weeklong celebration of the language's revival, a journey largely sparked by the 33,000 signature strong petition delivered to Parliament today 50 years ago.
It called for courses in Māori language and culture to be offered in all New Zealand schools.
Dunlop spoke to Guyon Espiner.
