The author of a new report on widespread pollution around the aluminium smelter at Tiwai Point in Southland says he found key contaminants left out of an earlier study done by the smelter company.
Simon Hunt's report was commissioned by the Southland Regional Council.
Mr Hunt said waste had just been dumped on the soil at Tiwai Point.
New Zealand Aluminim Smelters said waste was better managed now.
