Northland's Ngatiwai iwi has a proud tradition of paddling, and this pride translated into success at last month's World Sprint Championships in England.
On Friday, the iwi hosted a celebration in honour of its waka ama competitors, in the hope that more rangatahi would be inspired to take up the sport.
