Leading academics at the University of Otago are urging the Government to launch an inquiry into New Zealand's Covid-19 pandemic response before memories of it are lost.
Since 1936, all sudden mass fatality events with more than 10 deaths have resulted in an official inquiry.
At times, the Covid-19 pandemic has seen more than 10 people die every day in New Zealand.
Otago University Professor Nick Wilson says it's fortunate the Government realises an inquiry will be needed, but it needs to start now.
