About 12,000 cows on New Zealand's largest feedlot are set to be culled from mid-October.
Mycoplasma bovis was first detected on the Five Star Beef feedlot in Ashburton about four years ago.
Now the operation has until January to quote "depopulate", while 14 nearby farms also need to commence culling or ramp up testing for the disease.
