National Party leader Christopher Luxon says that his party's planned tax cuts would not have the same sharp market reaction the UK's own tax cut proposals had on the pound's value.
The pound has slumped to an all-time low against the US dollar - and the New Zealand dollar is not having a great week, either, having fallen to its lowest point against the greenback since 2020.
But why would tax cuts, along similar lines to the UK, not have a similar effect here?
