Polar blast causes trouble on the roads

From Morning Report, 6:09 am on 6 October 2022

A polar blast hitting southern and eastern areas of the country has dumped snow from Invercargill up to the Desert Road in the central North Island.

Metservice has been forecasting up to 15 centimetres of snow in the South overnight, on top of what fell yesterday - and possibly falling to sea level in Christchurch, Wellington and Wairarapa.

This could make it a difficult day for drivers, following yesterday's dumping which left roads requiring chains or were closed completely.

South Island journey manager Tresca Forrester spoke to Corin Dann.
