One plant every four seconds - that's how many were put in the ground across the Wellington region over the winter planting season.
The number of plants sowed between June and August this year hit 850,000 - double that of the same period last year.
The feat was achieved in the midst of the wettest winter on record for the region, following the wettest summer too.
Greater Wellington Catchment Management team member Wayne O'Donnell spoke to Corin Dann.
