The 82-year-old husband of the US House of Representatives speaker remains in hospital after an intruder hit him in the head with a hammer.
The suspect reportedly shouted "where's Nancy" during the attack, fuelling fears of political violence around the US midterm election.
Nancy Pelosi, also aged 82, is one of the most powerful politicians in the country, second in line to the presidency after Vice President Kamala Harris.
She says she is "heartbroken and traumatised" by the violent attack on her husband.
