Emergency managers on the West Coast are on high alert this morning with more than a month's worth of rain expected in the area.
Rain has already begun to fall on the coast, with more than 500 millimetres expected about the ranges through to Thursday.
Orange level warnings for heavy rain and severe gales are in place in parts of the mainland.
