The government is lauding the country achieving first place in a Sustainable Trade Index.
The Index was launched overnight in Singapore and ranks this country first out of 30 economies that trade internationally in a sustainable manner.
It judges three criteria - economic growth, environmental protection and societal development.
Minister for Trade and Export Growth Damien O'Connor says New Zealanders can be proud of the achievement.
