Whānau in Te Urewera are celebrating the return of several taonga.
The taonga were stolen more than a hundred years ago during the police invasion of Maungapōhatu, a community deep in the ranges.
The stolen items included including walking sticks, flags and garments.
Professor Taiarahia Black helped secure their return and spoke to Morning Report about their history.
