Customers and staff at a Rotorua bank were held hostage by an alleged gunman yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to BNZ on Amohau Street just before four, and escorted the hostages one by one from the building an hour later.
The man was seen walking out with his arms raised shortly after, and was then arrested.
