Analysis: Wayne Brown's rates proposal
Auckland mayor Wayne Brown is proposing a below-inflation rates rise of four-point-six-six percent - while at the same time claiming the city's facing a debt crisis. The full details have not been released publicly but it would involve selling the council's one-point-nine billion dollar stake in Auckland International Airports. Earlier, conservative councillor Maurice Williamson told me he fully supported the proposal, but that all of the council's assets and systems would also be looked at to cut costs. New Zealand Herald senior writer Simon Wilson spoke to Corin Dann.
