Better late than never has been the response of many to the government's widening of its green list immigration settings.
Nurses, doctors and midwives can now get a straight to residence visa when coming to New Zealand to work, while construction, teaching and transport sectors also get a major boost after yesterday's announcement.
But an opening up of our immigration settings has been long called for, and the government is being asked - what took you so long?
Immigration Minister Michael Wood should be able to answer that question.
