A looming oversupply of primary teachers could lead to layoffs over the next few years.
The latest Ministry of Education forecast shows there could be between 640 and 1000 more teachers than jobs next year - and by 2025 a surplus of 2000 or so.
Post Primary Teachers' Association says those figures are overly optimistic while NZEI says it won't lead to layoffs as more teachers are opting to work part-time.
