Russian President Vladimir Putin says all armed conflicts end with diplomatic negotiations.
In a public speech he said Russia wants an end to the war in Ukraine.
This comes after Ukrainan President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude for the United States' support in fighting Russia in a powerful speech to Congress.
On Thursday, he called for more US aid and stronger sanctions against Moscow.
The US has provided more than US$21 billion in security assistance this year.
