Researchers have discovered argentine ants attacking beehives have brought another misery with them - disease.
It has long been known the ants attack the hives to get at the honey, but now it has been found the attacks also lead to higher incidences of deformed wing virus.
Victoria University Professor Phil Lester supervised the research.
He spoke to Charlotte Cook.
