In the last election, Christchurch's Ilam electorate had a shock result, turning red for the first time since it was formed in 1996.
Since then polls would suggest there will be a return to type this year.
With the decision by Gerry Brownlee to go onto his Party's list and not stand in the electorate seat the question has to be asked - is the battle for Ilam, which encompasses some of the city's most affluent suburbs, a done deal for National or can Chris Hipkins keep it red?
