Prominent Northland kuia and controversial campaigner for Māori rights,Titewhai Harawira has died in Avondale aged 90.

Former MP Hone Harawira says his mother will stay at her home in Avondale for a night before going to Hoani Waititi Marae in Henderson where she will lie in state.
She will then return to the north for burial.
