A North Shore pensioner was told by her housing provider to 'jump on her bed' to escape the floodwaters on Friday amid the city's deluge.
Stephanie - who has asked us to only use her first name - said after surrounding areas were flooded in March last year she knew that the steady rain on Friday afternoon was much worse.
The 77-year-old told First Up's Jeremy Parkinson she first called her housing provider Haumaru from her Alma Court village in Milford around midday.
In response, Haumaru Housing said in a statement that its teams responded as quickly as possible as it evolved.
It's reviewing its call log and the actions taken at the time, but was confident it had responded in an appropriate and timely manner, adding that its tenants safety and wellbeing were Haumaru's chief priority.
